The city of Bristol has a fascinating story to tell. South West England has a distinctive identity, carved out by passionate locals and enthusiastic fans alike.
Bristol Zoo Gardens is the fifth oldest zoo in the world. The Zoo opened its doors to the public on Monday 11th July 1836 and since then has welcomed over 90 million visitors. Over 175 species have been saved from extinction, both in captivity and in the wild. They are currently engaged in conservation and research projects around the globe, including the Philippines, South Africa, and right here on our doorstep, the River Avon. More than 40 million schoolchildren have been taught about the value of nature, wildlife, and the impact our society has on the world by their award-winning education team.
