It's also on its way to your inbox with the full breakdown โ but you don't need to wait. The script is below. The first call takes two minutes.
"Thanks for taking the call completely out of the blue โ I do have a specific reason for calling."
Why it works: it names the awkwardness before they feel it. "Out of the blue" tells them you know this is unexpected โ which instantly makes it not feel like a chase. "A specific reason" earns you the next ten seconds, because now they want to know what it is.
"Last time we spoke, it felt like we were a good fit โ which is why I put a quote together for you. And I haven't done a particularly good job of getting back to you."
Why it works: you take the blame for the silence, not them. No guilt, no "just checking in," no pressure. Honesty about your own follow-up is disarming precisely because nobody else does it โ and it quietly re-anchors them to the moment they were interested.
"So here I am now. What would need to happen for us to do some business together?"
Why it works: it doesn't ask "are you still interested?" (easy no) or "did you get my quote?" (dead end). It asks them to define the path to yes โ and whatever they say next tells you exactly where the deal really stands. They do the closing. You just listen.
Only call people you've actually quoted. This is "unexpected and known" โ they know you, they're just not expecting you. It doesn't work cold.
Only say it if it's true. If you did follow up well and they went quiet anyway, adjust the wording โ the honesty is the mechanism, not the phrasing.
Low expectations, high volume. You're reigniting, not closing on the call. Run it as a team session โ a full hour, everyone calling their quiet quotes at once. That's how a ยฃ325M firm reopened ยฃ1.5m in 30 minutes.
Don't turn it into a chase. One call. Whatever they say, close a logical next step or close the file. Both outcomes are wins.
If your team has enough quiet quotes for this script to be exciting, that's the real finding. Somewhere between "great conversation" and "signed contract," your deals are leaking โ and the script treats the symptom, not the cause.
The cause lives in your team's actual sales conversations. That's where we look.
We review 10โ15 of your team's real sales calls plus 90 days of pipeline data, and hand you a board-ready report on exactly where deals die and what it's costing you in pounds.
For sales teams of 5+. No obligation โ the findings are yours either way.
